PD EMS Dispatcher 2
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or GED
- Must be 18 years’ of age
- Driver’s License
- American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification
- APCO BTC or State approved equivalent Certification
- IAED Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification
- Hazmat Material Awareness training Certification
- Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training Certification
- ICS – 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800 Certification
- PHTLS/ITLS certification preferred
- One to three years of previous dispatch experience related to firefighting/EMS
Essential Functions
- Answer 9-1-1 telephone calls and other telephone calls
- Screens calls according to the IAED ProQA system
- Dispatches appropriate resources
- Utilizes a Computer Aided Dispatch system, radio communications system, and telephone system to communicate with units in the field
- Updates unit status on assignments
- Ensures the safety of all personnel
