PD EMS Dispatcher 2

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED
• Must be 18 years’ of age
• Driver’s License
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification
• APCO BTC or State approved equivalent Certification
• IAED Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification
• Hazmat Material Awareness training Certification
• Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training Certification
• ICS – 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800 Certification
• PHTLS/ITLS certification preferred
• One to three years of previous dispatch experience related to firefighting/EMS

Essential Functions

• Answer 9-1-1 telephone calls and other telephone calls
• Screens calls according to the IAED ProQA system
• Dispatches appropriate resources
• Utilizes a Computer Aided Dispatch system, radio communications system, and telephone system to communicate with units in the field
• Updates unit status on assignments
• Ensures the safety of all personnel
