About the role

City of Newcastle (CN) has a brand-new permanent position for a Payroll & Workers Compensation Officer to join our team.

As a member of our team, you won't just work for the city; you’ll co-create it. Here, your ideas and efforts directly shape the places where you and your community live, work, and play.

You will play a key role in ensuring workers compensation wage entitlements and payroll payments are processed accurately, on time and in line with legislative requirements.

Reporting to the Payroll & Rewards Lead, this is a unique opportunity to combine your payroll expertise with workers compensation administration in a role that sits at the heart of employee support, compliance and service delivery.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for calculating and processing workers compensation wage payments, payroll adjustments, reconciliations and reporting, while also contributing to fortnightly payroll activities and end-of-financial-year processing.

You will work closely with our Payroll, WHS, Injury Management and Finance teams to strengthen processes, improve data integrity and help ensure alignment between systems and practices.

Requirements

We are seeking someone with experience in payroll and/or workers compensation who has a keen eye for detail, strong systems capability and a passion for continuous improvement.
