About the role

Identifies and coordinates all aspects of financial obligations for private pay patients. Includes patient relations, physician liaison regarding financial liabilities, deposit estimates and collection. Assures timely and professional responses to customer needs and complaints related to financial services.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to customer needs and complaints related to financial services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Secures payment for services rendered and protects reimbursement by assisting patients with payment plans and options.
  • Interviews patients and/or families to determine funding sources.
  • Applies financial and collection policies.
  • Coordinates with physicians to ensure accurate documentation of financial liabilities.
  • Ensures compliance with insurance contracts and manages appeals processes.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in healthcare or finance.
  • 3 years of experience in patient financial services or medical billing in a hospital business office, or 5 years of experience without a degree.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of healthcare coding and billing systems.
  • Experience with patient financial management software.

Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.

Pay

The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
