Responsibilities
- Patient & Visitor Interactions / Customer Service / Hourly Rounding: Answer patient call lights, answer phones, assist visitors, perform purposeful hourly rounding.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Learn patient safe handling skills, assist in ambulation, assist in transferring, lifting, or repositioning patients using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
- Basic Nursing Care / ADLs: Assist with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, using bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc., under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Perform procedures under the direction of the nurse, explain and perform procedures, notify appropriate personnel of responses and questions, collect non-sterile specimens, perform point of care patient blood sugar testing, promote and maintain skin integrity.
- Care Companion / Sitter / Observer: Remain with a patient as a means to keep the patient safe.
- Department Specific Tasks: Support the nursing team by performing indirect patient care activities such as restocking equipment/linens, cleaning equipment, answering and relaying telephone calls, filing and maintaining records, retrieving and delivering supplies, specimens, instruments, test results, etc.
Requirements
- Education: Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred; completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by either American Heart Association.
- Experience: No Experience Required.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions; demonstrates concern for and commitment to the welfare of our patient and families; trained and expected to observe all fire and safety procedures and patient experience standards.
Qualifications
- Physical Demands: When in the clinical environment, must utilize appropriate patient movement equipment for patient-lifting and transfers when the transfer is a non-emergency situation. In an urgent event, may need to assist with lifting up to 50 pounds. When applicable, wear an N95 mask/PAPR and other PPE. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting throughout the shift.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer skills required.
