Responsibilities
- Patient & Visitor Interactions / Customer Service / Hourly Rounding: Answer patient call lights, answer phones, assist visitors, perform purposeful hourly rounding.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Learn patient safe handling skills, assist in ambulation, assist in transferring, lifting, and repositioning patients using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
- Basic Nursing Care / ADLs: Provide basic care including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, using bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Assist with room set up, patient orientation, discharge, and transfer, provide patient/family orientation, transport/escort patients safely, update patients.
- Procedures and Treatments: Accurately complete and document patient care activities, explain and perform procedures, notify appropriate personnel, collect non-sterile specimens, perform point of care patient blood sugar testing, promote and maintain skin integrity.
- Care Companion / Sitter / Observer: Remain with a patient to keep them safe, support the nursing team with indirect patient care activities, restock equipment/linens, clean equipment, answer and relay telephone calls, file and maintain records, retrieve and deliver supplies, specimens, instruments, test results.
- Department Specific Tasks: Support the nursing team with indirect patient care activities, restock equipment/linens, clean equipment, answer and relay telephone calls, file and maintain records, retrieve and deliver supplies, specimens, instruments, test results.
Requirements
- Minimum Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred, completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
- Minimum Licensure Requirements: Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by either American Heart Association.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions, demonstrates concern for and commitment to the welfare of our patient and families.
