About the Role

At Fast Pace Health, the Patient Care Specialist provides essential administrative support for effective patient care under the supervision of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. This role focuses on delivering outstanding customer service, maintaining a welcoming atmosphere, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, register, and discharge patients with a high level of customer service.
  • Accurately collect and input patient demographics and financial information.
  • Verify and update patient insurance information, maintaining knowledge of insurance plans and Fast Pace's Self-Pay program.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, or Self-Pay amounts at registration.
  • Answer phones politely and maintain patient flow by communicating with patients and clinical staff.
  • Retrieve, fax, or mail medical records to primary care providers as needed.
  • Cross-train on back-office clinical skills for a cross-functional role.
  • Complete mandatory compliance training and adhere to processes and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere and cordial relations with clients and employees.
  • Perform physical tasks such as folding towels, cleaning tables, and assisting patients with exercise equipment.
  • Welcome and support new employees, providing introductions, clinic tours, and training assistance.
  • Maintain overall office cleanliness, including reception area organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR license.
  • 1 year of customer service experience, preferably in urgent care (Level 1).
  • 3 years of billing and coding experience with intermediate computer skills, including typing 70-100 words per minute and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Levels 2 and 3).
  • 1 year of medical office experience with basic medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred.
  • Basic PC skills, including mouse usage and software like MS Outlook and Word.
