About the role
The Patient Care Specialist provides administrative support essential for effective patient care under the direct supervision of a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. The role involves providing outstanding customer service and maintaining a compassionate and welcoming atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates a high level of Customer Service to greet, register, and discharge all patients.
- Accurately collect and input patient demographics and financial information at the time of registration for all patients.
- Maintains strong knowledge of Medical Insurance Plans including but not limited to co-pays, deductibles, and coverage limits.
- Retrieves, faxes, or mails medical records to primary care providers as needed.
- Completes all mandatory compliance training and consistently follows processes and procedures to maintain compliance standards.
- Performs the physical, use of senses, cognitive, and environmental functions of the position, as specified on the physical demands.
- Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent with a current CPR license*
- At least 1 year of customer experience, preferably urgent care
- Intermediate computer skills, including typing 70-100 words per minute, knowledge of Microsoft Office including, word and excel. Intermediate skills in excel including basic formulas and v lookup.
- Experience in billing and coding
- Ability to comply with Company standards of operations
- The ability to promote and maintain a respectful culture of employee, employer, patients and business confidentiality
- Proficiency with basic PC skills to include typing, utilization of a mouse, and ability to use basic software such as MS Outlook and Word
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or its equivalent AND Experience 1 Year of medical office experience with basic medical terminology and insurance knowledge preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills, including typing 70-100 words per minute, knowledge of Microsoft Office including, word and excel. Intermediate skills in excel including basic formulas and v lookup.
- Experience in administration duties, including but not limited to scheduling, ordering, training, and other duties assigned by Clinic and or Regional Director
