About the role
As a Patient Advocate, you will assist patients in navigating the healthcare system. You will work collaboratively with patients, stakeholders, and other teams.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients to complete forms, applications, and Medicaid-related paperwork.
- Collect and review patient information to determine eligibility.
- Prepare documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical assistance on agency issues, services, and programs.
- Maintain and/or create files or record-keeping systems.
- Sort, label files, and retrieve documents or other materials.
- Interact with patients at the site to provide real-time service support and address concerns.
- Develop and retain professional relationships with hospital staff.
- Handle caseloads, retrieve designated reports, and maintain confidentiality.
- Adhere to EMTALA and HIPAA guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1+ years of work experience in health care, medical insurance, hospital, or clinic.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- An associate degree or equivalent from a 2-year college is preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish proficiency.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and hospital staff.
- Travel locally to other work sites as needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel pivot tables, Project, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare processes.
- Ability to work weekends after training is complete.

Pay and Schedule
- Work schedule: Saturday–Sunday from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, Monday–Wednesday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with Thursday and Friday off.
- Work model: Onsite.
