Job Summary

Affords assistance in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification. Serves as a clinical liaison with physician practices, engaging in pre-visit services.

Pre-registers/Registers Patients

  • Accurately captures patient demographic and financial data
  • May register patients through various methods, depending on the location

Verifies Coverage and Ensures Requirements

  • Ensures all insurance requirements are met
  • Obtains necessary prior authorizations and referrals

Responds to Customer Inquiries

  • Addresses patient concerns and queries
  • Supports departmental coverage as needed

Manages Daily Appointment Schedules

  • Reminds patients of appointments via phone calls
  • Contacts referrals for scheduled appointments

Performs Other Duties As Assigned

  • May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of medical office or related customer service experience
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (preferred)
  • Understanding of insurance processes and regulations (preferred)
  • Effective conflict management skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Department / Location Specific Notes

Caregivers with a strong background in customer service may substitute for medical office or related experience. Work conditions include operating computer and office equipment, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and predominantly working in an office setting. Close visual acuity is required for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
