Responsibilities
- Patient Service: Courteously advises patients of collection and billing procedures and ensures they understand their responsibilities. Maintains a complaint rate of less than 5 per year.
- Customer Service: Welcomes patients courteously, answers questions and concerns appropriately, and informs patients of their rights and Advance Directives.
- Data Entry: Accurately obtains and edits patient information in the clinic's computer system, ensuring all records are current.
- Registration: Registers patients in Epic, manages patient flow, and arranges payment plans.
- Referrals: Facilitates referrals to other providers/services/facilities in compliance with payor requirements.
- Documentation: Documents patient referrals accurately and processes patient appointments effectively.
- Clerical Duties: Completes various clerical tasks efficiently, such as answering phone calls and retrieving medical records.
- File Management: Accurately files patient charts and retrieves information quickly.
- Billing: Researches and resolves claim edits and denials, verifies and collects patient payments, and reconciles account balances.
- Health Plan Knowledge: Maintains a general knowledge of health plans, including co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance.
- Cash Management: Manages cash according to established policies, ensuring accurate crediting and secure storage.
- Support: Acts as a backup and supports clinic initiatives, providing training and orientation when needed.
Qualifications
- Experience: 6 months in a customer service/front desk role or a graduate of a front office/medical office program. A bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Skills: Professional demeanor, excellent customer service skills, ability to multi-task, critical thinking, strong computer literacy, and proficiency in Epic.
