Responsibilities
- Patient Service: Courteously advises patients of collection and billing procedures and ensures they understand their responsibilities. Maintains a complaint rate below 5 per year.
- Customer Service: Welcomes and greets patients courteously, addresses questions and concerns appropriately, and informs patients of their rights and Advance Directives.
- Data Entry: Accurately obtains and edits patient information in the clinic's computer system, ensuring all records are up-to-date.
- Registration: Registers patients in Epic, manages patient flow, collects payments, and arranges payment plans.
- Referrals: Facilitates referrals to other providers/services/facilities in compliance with payor requirements.
- Documentation: Documents patient referrals accurately, schedules and reschedules appointments, and processes patient information efficiently.
- Clerical Duties: Completes various clerical tasks such as answering phone calls, retrieving medical records, and typing memos in a timely manner.
- File Management: Accurately files patient charts and retrieves information easily.
- Payor Compliance: Researches and resolves claim edits and denials within 2 days, and maintains a thorough understanding of health plan details.
- Financial Management: Verifies and collects patient payments, reconciles account balances, and manages cash securely.
- Team Support: Acts as a backup and supports clinic initiatives, providing training and orientation as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience: 6 months in a customer service/front desk role or a graduate of a front office/medical office program. A bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Skills: Professional demeanor, excellent customer service skills, ability to multitask, critical thinking, strong computer literacy, and proficiency in Epic.
