Job Duties
- Greets and registers incoming patients, supports the patient check out process and schedules future appointments as applicable.
- Verifies patient demographics and checks patients in for appointments.
- Maintains accurate records and monitors patient wait times.
- Reads and interprets insurance responses and ensures proper assignment of insurance.
- Communicates financial obligations to patients and collects fees at time of service.
- Completes necessary regulatory forms and communicates the purpose of these forms to patients.
- Schedules follow-up appointments and ancillary services as needed.
- Processes multi-channel messages related to patient and physician requests.
- Notifies patients or guarantors of anticipated financial responsibility and collects accordingly.
- Performs cash postings following department guidelines.
- Maintains confidentiality and follows organizational and HIPAA guidelines.
- Independently works work queues to ensure timely resolution of all accounts.
- Accurately performs medical record maintenance and releases.
- Affords referrals and pre-certifications at the time of encounter.
- Utilizes and maintains patient recall and reschedule lists.
About the Role
This position provides front line support to the department, handling patient inquiries and supporting the patient check out process.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year-related work experience
