About the role
We're looking for someone who can greet patients and guests, handle check-ins, and manage patient registrations. You'll also help with financial aspects, ensuring accurate information and smooth transactions.
Responsibilities
- Create and activate patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission processes.
- Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
- Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions.
- Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
- Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
- Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships.
- Adapt to different patient populations and maintain a professional demeanor.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a customer service role.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and software specific to the role.
- Clerical skills and knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits and payor guidelines.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle high-stress situations.
- Excellent decision-making and analytical skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience in a hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, or similar role.
- Preferred certifications: CHAM, CHAA, Medical Assistant certification.
