About the role

The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating all aspects of patient entry into Mercy facilities. This includes scheduling, registration, benefit verification, pre-certification, and financial clearance.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and register patients for appointments and procedures.
• Verify patient insurance benefits and assist with pre-certification processes.
• Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the patient record.
• Work with insurance carriers and understand Medicare guidelines.
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff.
• Manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
• Use various computer systems and perform administrative tasks such as using a 10-key calculator and computer keyboard.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of clerical and customer service experience preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans is helpful.
• A high school diploma is required, with some college education being beneficial.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
• The ability to work under stress and meet deadlines is necessary.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform various physical tasks.
