Part Time Special Education Instructor - One to One Learning

About the role

Brightmont Academy is seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide one‑to‑one instruction using the APEX Learning curriculum. The teacher will deliver accommodations and modifications based on each student’s IEP, focusing on students with ASD, ED, and/or SLD. A case manager handles most administrative duties, allowing the teacher to concentrate on classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

• Implement the provided APEX Learning curriculum and tailor it to each student’s IEP.
• Teach students one‑to‑one, adapting lessons to individual needs and learning styles.
• Guide students toward mastery using a gradual release approach that builds confidence and academic success.
• Focus solely on instruction—no lesson planning, parent conferences, or grading responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and LBS1 certification.
• Experience working in ASD, ED, and/or SLD programs.
• Patience and empathy for diverse learning needs.
• Genuine passion for teaching.
• Proficiency with G‑Suite and Learning Management Software (LMS).
• Ability to provide fingerprints (AZ, WA only) and pass a federal background check.
