Part Time Special Education Instructor - 1-to-1 Learning

About the role

The special education teacher at Brightmont Academy will use the provided curriculum (APEX Learning) and provide the accommodations and modifications necessary based on the IEP in order for the student to be successful. The ideal candidate will have experience working in ASD, ED and/or SLD programs.

Responsibilities

• Tailor lessons to individual student needs and learning styles
• Guide students to mastery with a gradual release approach
• Focus on building confidence and academic success
• No stress, no extra work: forget about lesson planning, parent conferences, or endless grading
• Focus on inspiring students

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree and Special Education experience
• Patience & Empathy: Understands that every student learns differently and committed to supporting them
• A Heart for Teaching: Passionate about sharing knowledge with students
• Proficiency using G-Suite and Learning Management Software (LMS)
• Ability to provide fingerprints (AZ, WA only) and pass a federal background check

Qualifications

Experience working in ASD, ED and/or SLD programs is preferred.

Skills

• Strong communication skills
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse student needs
• Knowledge of educational technology and software
