About the role

The Marketing area in the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly is seeking applications for part-time lecturers. Positions are available for teaching introductory principles of marketing, international marketing, market research, new product development and launch, product management, sales, sales technology, or other advanced courses during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2026-27 academic year, starting August 17, 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in marketing as determined by need and funding.
  • Be available on very short notice to accommodate class availability, scheduling, budget, and enrollments.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in business or related discipline and professional marketing experience required.
  • Demonstrated teaching record and currency in professional field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population fostering a respectful, collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.

Qualifications

  • Education: Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.
  • Classification Salary Ranges:
    • Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
    • Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
    • Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
    • Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211
