Cal State LA’s College of Business and Economics invites applications for its 2026-27 Academic-Year Lecturer Pool in the Marketing Department. Positions are part-time, temporary, and filled each semester as enrollment and budget allow. Initial appointments are typically for one semester; renewal depends on department need, funding, and performance. Some appointments may be made on short notice just before the semester begins.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a business-related field.
  • Evidence of professional expertise.
  • Ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching.
  • Proficiency in written and oral use of the English language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant teaching experience, work experience, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the department.
  • Course assignments (dates, times, modalities) determined by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.

Courses

All classes within the Marketing Department, including Bus 1010 and Bus 4150.

Pay

Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The following full-time equivalent monthly salary ranges are effective July 1, 2024:

  • Lecturer A/2: $5,507 – $6,677
  • Lecturer B/3: $6,221 – $13,224
  • Lecturer C/4: $6,825 – $14,523
  • Lecturer D/5: $8,593 – $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range. Most new faculty lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank.

About the Department

The Marketing Department explores both the creative, consumer-driven aspects of marketing and the analytical practices and strategies for success. Students develop communication skills and learn about pricing, product delivery, and conveying value to audiences.

  • Unofficial transcripts (official transcripts required upon hire).

Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States. A U.S. equivalency certification is required for foreign terminal degrees.
