Part-Time Interdisciplinary Studies Instructor (Pool)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay

• Lab Course (Salary Schedule HB): $89.20 up to $130.94 per hour
• Lecture Course (Salary Schedule HC): $103.85 up to $151.07 per hour
• Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based on education and credited experience

Responsibilities

• Assist new, first-time college students in making a successful transition to college by providing opportunities to explore college student mindset, identity, habits, and expectations
• Through a shared reading experience and series of common assignments, instruct students to develop critical reading strategies, information literacy awareness and skills, and establish a community of first-year support
• The instructional faculty's disciplinary expertise will inform course content

• Proven experience with community building and peer learning
• Understanding of and commitment to teaching community college students
• Successful teaching experience
• Experience working with diverse students, including those with limited English language proficiency
• Use and develop teaching methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration, and engage students
• Preparation for or experience in designing and preparing student success plans
• Demonstrate strength in interpersonal communication
• Organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with different abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences
• Acceptance of the division's commitment to established academic standards

Qualifications

• Master's or higher in the interdisciplinary area OR Master's or higher in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area and upper division or graduate coursework in at least one other constituent discipline
• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
