Part-Time Freight Handler

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting freight within the dock area, ensuring proper handling, documentation, and safety compliance. Key Responsibilities Operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move freight.Verify freight details against documentation, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers using straps, pallets, and ropes.Repair or recoup damaged freight as needed.Complete all required reports and documentation accurately.Assist customers with freight and documentation when necessary.Perform hostling duties if required, including moving trailers.Adhere to all safety laws, regulations, and company policies.Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; must be at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation is preferred.Ability to perform basic math, lift and carry freight, and open trailer doors.Strong physical ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight.Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.Previous dock or warehouse experience advantageous. Working Conditions: Work in a dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, and noise. The role involves fast-paced, deadline-oriented tasks and frequent contact with personnel.
