Part-Time Freight Handler

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting freight within the dock area to and from trailers for loading and unloading, ensuring efficient freight handling and safety compliance. Key Responsibilities Operate motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.Verify freight documentation for accuracy, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools like straps and pallets.Recoup or repair damaged freight as needed.Complete required documentation and reports accurately.Assist customers with freight and related documentation.Perform hostling duties if required.Maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent preferred; at least 18 years old.Experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation preferred.Ability to perform basic math and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.Physical ability to lift and carry freight, open trailer doors, and perform related tasks.Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Working Conditions: Dock environment with exposure to weather, fumes, dust, and noise. Fast-paced, deadline-driven setting requiring frequent physical activity and safety awareness.
