Responsibilities
- Instruct courses aligned with departmental goals for first-year writing and/or developmental writing/reading.
- Develop syllabi, assignments, and rubrics that support student learning outcomes.
- Provide feedback on student assignments through written comments, conferences, and peer review sessions.
- Audit student performance using formative and summative evaluation methods.
- Integrate technology and digital literacy into writing instruction (e.g., using LMS platforms, online research tools).
- Hold regular office hours to support student learning and address individual concerns.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Master’s degree in the content area or master’s degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the content area.
- Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Composition/Writing Instruction – Composition and Basic Writing, Master's Degree in Secondary Education with a Reading Endorsement.
- Required Experience: English Composition – 1-2 years of experience teaching first-year Composition, Basic Writing – 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental writing, College Reading and Study Skills – 2-3 years of experience teaching developmental reading and knowledge of reading theory.
