The Digital Support Technician 1 plays a hands-on role in maintaining and supporting the agency’s infrastructure, websites, and applications. This role blends IT support and web development, offering the opportunity to troubleshoot systems, enhance digital experiences, and collaborate across teams to keep operations running smoothly. It’s ideal for a technically curious problem-solver who enjoys working across a variety of platforms and technologies.

The Digital Support Technician will be part of the thunder::tech Development Department, which is responsible for day-to-day project production and composed of four teams: application development, front-end development, digital support, and systems operations (sysops). You will work closely with the Development, Client Services, and SysOps teams to support internal systems and client websites and report to the Senior Director of Development.

Location: Cleveland-Akron area with the ability to be in the office two days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday).

Responsibilities

  • IT Infrastructure & System Administration
    • Assist in the administration, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and cloud infrastructure.
    • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Implement and maintain security measures to protect agency systems and client data.
    • Stay up to date on industry best practices and proactively address potential vulnerabilities.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting
    • Provide technical support to internal teams, resolving IT-related issues and requests.
    • Analyze and troubleshoot active websites and applications across multiple programming languages.
    • Work cross-functionally with Development and Client Services teams to ensure systems operate seamlessly.
    • Provide status updates on requests to both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Web & Application Development Support
    • Work in conjunction with various departments to support and maintain client websites.
    • Develop new features for existing applications and dynamic websites.
    • Conduct quality assurance testing and create reports to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Operations, Documentation & Optimization
    • Participate in the development and implementation of automation scripts to improve efficiency.
    • Create and maintain documentation for IT processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
    • Stay informed on emerging technologies and evaluate potential applications within the agency.

Requirements

  • Experience
    • 2–3 years of technical support experience assisting users with IT-related issues.
    • 2–3 years of professional web development experience using modern frameworks and tools.
  • Technical Skills
    • Strong knowledge of:
      • .NET 4.0+ framework and webforms architecture
      • C#, data structures, and object-oriented programming
      • PHP and object-oriented programming
      • GIT source control
      • Microsoft Visual Studio
      • MS SQL Server Studio
      • NetBeans or similar PHP IDE
    • Basic knowledge of:
      • Popular CMS platforms (Kentico, Sitecore, WordPress, Umbraco, Drupal)
      • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn independently.
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
    • Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Pay

This position provides a market-competitive base salary between $22–$24 per hour, with the final amount determined by the candidate's experience and qualifications.
