Part Time - Custodian

About the role

Performs entry-level custodial duties in small or large buildings under supervision, including cleaning, floor care, trash removal, snow removal, light repairs, and setup for events. Responsible for opening/closing buildings and maintaining safety and security. May supervise student workers and assist with minor electrical repairs and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or combined education and experience totaling one year

Responsibilities

• Routine cleaning: dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing floors, restroom cleaning, polishing furniture
• Outdoor maintenance: trash removal, window cleaning, entrance sweeping, snow removal
• Equipment upkeep: light electrical work, vacuum repairs, daily equipment cleaning
• Assist with setup for events and ensure safety protocols are followed
• Supervise student workers, monitor assigned hours, and report maintenance needs
• Perform additional tasks as assigned, including emergency response and security duties

Skills

• Effective communication skills, both written and oral
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment use
• Ability to work at heights and operate ladders
• Basic light electrical repair skills
• Ability to supervise students, follow instructions, lift 50 lbs., and work outside regular hours if needed
