About the Role
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a Park Resource Ranger who enjoys working with people and caring for park areas. This position helps keep the park safe, welcoming, and well managed for visitors of all ages. Your work supports recreation, learning, and public enjoyment of the outdoors. This position focuses on assisting park visitors, monitoring park areas, and supporting safe use of facilities. It involves public contact, patrol work, and responding to various needs throughout the park.
Responsibilities
- Visitor Assistance: Greet visitors, answer questions, and provide information about park features, schedules, and rules
- Park Patrol: Monitor park grounds by vehicle, watercraft, bicycle, and on foot to ensure safe use of facilities
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergencies, administer first aid, and assist in search and rescue situations
- Facility Inspection: Inspect docks, buildings, and structures for hazards, cleanliness, and maintenance needs
- Information Management: Maintain bulletin boards, complete daily reports, and ensure maps and materials are stocked
- Communication Duties: Operate a two-way radio, answer telephones, and record accurate messages
Schedule
- This is a seasonal, full-time position. The season runs from approximately April 2026 until November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment April 2027.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Friday - Tuesday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework is not available in this position.
Qualifications
- Possession of an active motor vehicle license
- Must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment
- Must meet PA residency requirements
- Must be able to perform essential job functions
- Must pass a background investigation
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. A conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
