Park Resource Ranger, DCNR - Kettle Creek State Park Complex

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is seeking personable, ambitious, and reliable professionals to join the team as seasonal Park Resource Rangers at the Kettle Creek State Park Complex. This role plays a vital role in enhancing park operations and outdoor recreation while maintaining safe conditions for visitors. Your efforts will help protect natural resources and ensure a positive experience for all guests.
Responsibilities
- Visitor Assistance: Meet with visitors to provide information about facilities, schedules, history, and environmental features.
- Safety Response: Take action during emergencies and administer first aid as needed.
- Patrol Activities: Travel the park by vehicle, boat, bicycle, or foot to monitor safety and explain park rules.
- Facility Monitoring: Inspect park buildings and structures for cleanliness, serviceability, and safety hazards.
- Administrative Tasks: Cover the front desk, prepare reports, issue permits, and maintain daily activity logs.
Schedule
This is a seasonal, full-time position running from approximately March 2026 to November 2026. Employees will be placed on leave without pay after November 2026 and automatically returned to employment in March 2027. Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday through Tuesday, with a 30-minute lunch. Overtime and travel may be required. Telework is not an option for this position.
Requirements
- Possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- Valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR (approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent) within 60 days of employment.
- Must meet Pennsylvania residency requirements.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation, including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law, requiring clearance checks at hire and every 5 years thereafter.
