Park Resource Ranger (Seasonal) - Laurel Caverns State Park

Description of Work

This position focuses on supporting visitor safety and providing customer service across park areas while maintaining a professional presence. You will work in active outdoor settings and assist with many aspects of daily park operations. As a Park Resource Ranger, you will perform the following duties:

• Public Interaction: Meet visitors, answer questions, and share information about park features and surrounding areas
• Patrol Duties: Patrol park grounds by vehicle, e-bicycle, and on foot while explaining rules and reporting concerns to proper staff
• Safety Monitoring: Inspect buildings, trails, and caverns for hazards and act to correct or report issues
• Emergency Support: Assist staff during emergencies such as rescues, first aid needs, and weather events
• Maintenance Tasks: Perform light upkeep such as litter pickup, sign painting, and trail marking
• Program Assistance: Support environmental education programs, volunteer projects, and event preparation

Qualifications Required

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility:

• All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
• All employees must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

Legal Requirements

You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
