Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive litigation support in state and federal construction-related and insurance coverage disputes. Candidates should be self-starters who take ownership of their cases, anticipate needs, and thrive in a collaborative litigation environment.

Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience supporting attorneys in litigation, including working with insurers, clients, adjusters, and outside counsel;
  • A strong understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings, and discovery processes;
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail;
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to function effectively in a high-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple attorneys and matters;
  • Strong work ethic that consistently takes initiative to complete daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist attorney(s) in complex state and federal cases from initial pleadings through trial;
  • Perform initial case assessments to determine further document discovery to facilitate initial investigation of claim;
  • Draft pleadings, scheduling orders, and motions for state and federal court;
  • Prepare and manage written discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses, coordinating and reviewing document productions, and preparing privilege logs;
  • Organize, review, and summarize construction project records, contracts, drawings, correspondence, expert materials, and claim files;
  • Aid with coverage analysis support, including organization of policy materials and claim documentation;
  • Coordinate and prepare subpoenas for records and depositions;
  • Communicate professionally with experts, insurance adjusters, clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel;
  • Schedule depositions, mediations, inspections, expert meetings, and hearings;
  • Assist with trial preparation, including trial notebooks, exhibits, witness preparation, and courtroom support;
  • Support attorneys during mediations and trials, including jury selection assistance where applicable.
