Responsibilities
- Prepare and assist with litigation documents, including complaints, motions, and related court filings.
- Support discovery processes, including organizing, reviewing, and preparing discovery-related materials.
- Affiliate with e-filing in applicable court systems.
- Follow court procedures carefully to ensure filings and documents are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
- Organize case-related documents, correspondence, deadlines, and filing materials.
- Support attorney correspondence and legal administrative follow-up as needed.
- For local candidates, assist with physical mail, including collecting mail, scanning documents, sending digital copies, and preparing or sending regular mail when e-filing is not available.
- Provide general office and legal administrative support as needed.
- Communicate clearly and reliably while working independently in a part-time capacity.
Qualifications
- Prior litigation support experience is required.
- Experience preparing complaints, motions, and other court filings is strongly preferred.
- Experience with e-filing is required.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to follow court procedures carefully.
- Good judgment, reliability, and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Maine state court e-filing is a strong plus.
- Experience with federal district court e-filing in Maine and/or New Hampshire is a plus.
- Discovery experience is highly preferred.
- Bankruptcy court e-filing experience, especially creditor-side bankruptcy, is a plus.
- Probate experience, including probate process and probate e-filing, is a plus.
- Real estate or transactional legal support experience is a plus.
- Local availability to assist with mail, scanning, physical documents, and occasional office-related support is strongly preferred.
