Outside Sales & Design Consultant
The Outside Sales & Design Consultant (part-time) is a skilled salesperson with a strong results record, providing exceptional service in custom designs and organizational solutions for homes and select small to mid-sized business environments. This role designs and sells custom spaces to customers in their homes and business locations by appointment, managing all phases of customer projects from consultation to installation.
About the role
This position builds repeat clientele, receives customer referrals, and creates leads while also developing B2B and trade relationships such as property managers, builders, and real estate professionals. The role is part of a local Custom Space Outside Sales and Design team, offering a competitive base salary with a ramp-up period and a lucrative monthly bonus incentive tied to sales performance.
Responsibilities
- Meets or exceeds sales goals, conversions, and positive customer surveys by designing and selling complete, functional, and aesthetically appealing solutions for residential, business, and trade clients.
- Establishes trust and rapport to understand customer needs, presenting projects and customized plans professionally.
- Manages multiple customer projects with high attention to detail, accuracy, timely follow-up, and consistent communication.
- Develops clientele and new leads through ongoing relationships, networking, referrals, and professional partnerships.
- Builds relationships within the local community with interior designers, home builders, realtors, property managers, and senior living professionals.
- Identifies and manages small to mid-sized B2B and trade opportunities, including multi-unit, repeat, or phased projects.
- Arrives promptly to all scheduled appointments and attends installations as needed to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Maintains discretion regarding confidential and sensitive company and customer information.
Requirements
- College degree preferred with 2-5 years of outside sales experience; custom spaces or closets experience preferred.
- Self-starter who is organized, creative, solutions-oriented, and able to manage time and projects efficiently in a white-glove customer service environment.
- Knowledge of design principles and trends in custom spaces, interior design, fashion, and retail industries.
- Professional appearance and demeanor with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexible and positive attitude with the ability to prioritize high-value tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Salesforce, AutoCad-based design tools, and Windows-based systems.
- Reliable transportation for customer appointments within a 100-mile radius; must maintain valid automobile insurance and meet state inspection standards.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and additional hours as needed.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.

Schedule
