Outpatient Therapist

About the role

The Clinical Mental Health Professional utilizes clinical expertise to perform psychosocial assessments, develop and implement plans of care appropriate to the care team, assess crisis situations to provide needed resources and/or referrals, and provide family and individual treatment as indicated. This position collaborates with patients, significant others, families, healthcare providers, insurers, community resources, and all other involved parties. Care is provided in accordance with the established plan of care for the assigned patient population.

Essential Functions

• Diagnoses and treats various mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, modifying care plans to reflect changes in patient status.
• Refers patients to other services to improve well-being, including community services, treatment programs, support groups, psychiatrists, or other mental health providers.
• Works with the multi-disciplinary team to develop a discharge plan to ensure continuity of care and further services.
• Organizes and prioritizes daily work by assessing new, current, and discharging patient needs in area(s) of responsibility.
• Performs behavioral health consultation for patients and caregivers.
• Conducts psychosocial assessments and provides supportive, crisis, bereavement, and other behavioral health interventions as necessary.
• Educates, communicates, and coordinates with multiple patient care teams and outside agencies to ensure quality care, timely discharge, and resolution of delays and issues.
• May provide support and debriefing, in conjunction with the Employee Assistance Program, for staff members following adverse events.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work or related field from an accredited institution.
• Current state licensure as required by state as LCSW, LMFT, CMHC/LPC/LCPC, LMFT, or Psychologist.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with patients, families, and treatment teams.
• Dual licensure with current state licensure as LAC.
• Montana only: Current state licensure as a MHPP.
• Experience treating anxiety and depression.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions requiring verbal communication, hearing, and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues, particularly during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and accessing information.
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Physical ability to use crisis prevention intervention techniques, including physical management of a child and running to prevent a runaway incident.
• Frequent requirement to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, run, or crawl.

A $2,500 sign-on bonus is available for external candidates only. The selected candidate will need to complete internal credentialing prior to starting, with a current timeframe of 60–90 days.
