Responsibilities
- Receive incoming telephone and/or radio calls regarding emergency and non-emergency situations, determine response requirements, and dispatch appropriate personnel to situations.
- Accurately enter, update, and retrieve information utilizing computerized data and telephone systems.
- Relay critical information and messages to and from District sites and personnel and external emergency response agencies.
- Receive all incoming requests for services through work orders, phone, radio, alarm monitoring, and/or computer messages and assign to proper personnel by radio or other methods according to established procedure.
- Determine dispatch response requirements and dispatch to appropriate personnel based on relative priorities of situations and protocols, and follow up in accordance with established District policies and procedures.
- Maintain access to, and security of, highly sensitive materials.
- Participate in the daily operations management, including assessing driver and para-educator call-outs, driver and para-educator check-in, vehicle availability, assisting bus drivers with route directions, and other assistance as needed.
- Record and track information: on-time performance using GPS data, requests, dispatches, work orders, and maintaining files of information relating to emergency calls such as personnel rosters, emergency call-out lists, accidents/incidents, and personnel issues.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Dispatch, call center, security, law enforcement, or military experience.
- Must meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self-Insurance Pool.
- Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and various software applications.
- Basic knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), FMCSA, CDE, and CDL rules and regulations, and state and federal laws applicable to students.
- Basic knowledge of 2-way radio procedures.
- Basic knowledge of GPS-Based Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems.
- Intermediate public relations skills.
- Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate base radio.
- Ability to communicate clearly in a timely manner, using professional demeanor and radio etiquette.
- Ability to work alone and collaboratively in a high stress environment using professional manners, following direction and keeping safety at the forefront of every interaction.
- Ability to interact with other employees professionally.
- Ability to assess alternate routes and road hazards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job to include HIPAA, HITECH, FERPA, other medical information, and student accommodations.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and interact positively and constructively with supervisors, staff members, students, the community, and other District stakeholders.
- Prioritize student safety and customer service to all customers.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.

- Emergency response experience.
