Location: Faribault
Full-time, unlimited (12-month) position with the Minnesota State Academies.

About the role

Provide administrative support services to a supervisor and/or director and the staff members in the education department at the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD).

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and direction in a variety of office tasks to ensure efficiency, communication, and productivity in the department.
  • Update and utilize student information systems, other databases, and/or documentation systems with current information following direction from supervisors/directors.
  • Manage student and staff attendance on the MSAD campus: receive morning calls, ensure substitute coverage, communicate with transportation companies and Faribault Public Schools, and coordinate between related services and interpreters as needed.
  • Track daily attendance of all absences, inform substitute teachers or paraprofessionals regarding changes, and transmit lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Serve as a notetaker in meetings.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the required level (as measured by SLPI evaluation).
  • Experience in office administration, including handling phone calls, emails, and communication with various stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with students, families, interagency partners, and staff.
  • Knowledge of student information systems and databases.
  • Strong organizational skills to maintain calendars, schedules, and office records.
  • Experience in creating and distributing professional-level communication via multiple platforms.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance) and to sit, stand, and walk throughout a workday.
  • Employment is contingent upon a successful criminal background check within the past 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, and Deaf/Blind individuals in an educational setting.
  • Experience in processing off-campus activity requests and coordinating logistics with multiple departments.
  • Experience preparing and distributing mass communication announcements (e.g., daily announcements, newsletters).
  • Background in organizing and participating in school events, such as orientations, graduations, and field trips.

Pay

$21.12 - $28.01 / hourly

Schedule

Day Shift (7:30am - 4pm), Monday - Friday
