About the Role

Responsible for the daily coordination and delivery of occupational therapy services that focus on conditions and health diagnoses, implementing specific treatment programs for individual patients and patient groups according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy and established department objectives.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific factors and performs satisfactorily related to patients from infancy through geriatrics
• Develops and implements individualized treatment programs for patients needing services
• Evaluates assigned patients, gathering data from patient records, interviews, observations, and team members
• Uses selected activities and/or tasks to promote and maintain health, and to achieve treatment goals
• Establishes and modifies intervention goals and strategies based on ongoing evaluations
• Provides direct therapy services using various functional settings and strategies
• Plans therapy within the patient’s individual physical, emotional, and intellectual capabilities, coordinating with rehabilitation, medical, and nursing care plans
• Prepares documentation as required by the profession and department, including evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and reports
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other team members regarding patient status, progress, and needs
• Establishes rapport and works cooperatively with interdisciplinary team members throughout the patient’s intervention program
• Enhances professional growth through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops; shares new knowledge with coworkers
• Evaluates and monitors clinical internships with students affiliating from various universities/colleges
• Participates in program development for the department

Requirements

• Ability to work the specified hours
• Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
• Ability to communicate effectively, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapist license in the state of practice (upon hire)
• 1–3 years of clinical patient care experience (preferred)

Pay

$34.00 – $51.25 per hour, dependent upon experience.
