Occupational Health & Safety Specialist

About the role

Seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to develop, implement, and maintain workplace safety programs ensuring OSHA compliance in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Manage workers' compensation claims and coordinate return-to-work initiatives.
• Coordinate emergency response planning and participate in safety drills.
• Monitor workplace hazards such as dust, air quality, noise, and ergonomics.
• Administer PPE programs, ensuring proper employee training and equipment.
• Supervise Safety & Sanitation Technicians, providing coaching and performance monitoring.
• Partner with HR and production teams to deliver OSHA-compliant safety training.
• Collaborate on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives, providing technical guidance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• 3-5 years of safety experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers' compensation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to conduct investigations, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions.
• Proficiency in documentation and recordkeeping, with the ability to work with dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
• Must pass background check and drug screening.
