Responsibilities
- Provides patient care according to designated standards and practices; assists in ongoing monitoring and evaluation of care effectiveness.
- Establishes mechanisms to track customer service performance and takes corrective action as needed.
- Participates in the development of annual budgets for personnel, supplies, and equipment; manages to budget and monitors variances.
- Assists with Kronos/payroll to ensure accurate data entry.
- Participates in the interview, selection, and orientation of new team members.
- Completes reports and institutes measures for unusual occurrences (e.g., patient falls, medication errors).
- Responsible for cost containment and conservation of supplies, equipment, and linen.
- Addresses ethical issues, including clinical concerns, harassment, and physician/nurse relations.
- Maintains confidentiality in all department-related issues.
- Evaluates department performance against targets and takes appropriate actions.
- Participates in committees and maintains a state of continued survey readiness.
- Leads survey readiness initiatives.
- Manages day-to-day staffing based on patient needs and caregiver skill levels.
- Develops and posts staffing schedules within established timeframes.
- Guides staff in advancing education and leadership skills, including team building, conflict resolution, and delegation.
- Coordinates and ensures completion of orientation competency checklists for new hires and annual competencies for all employees.
- Manages employee performance through evaluations and coaching.
- Assists with special projects as delegated and conducts staff meetings as needed.
- Performs other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Nursing Degree from an Accredited Nursing School or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 3-5 years clinical experience in Med/Surg and Telemetry.
- 2 years of management experience.
- Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Arizona.
- CPR certification.
- ACLS certification.
Preferred Requirements
- Master's degree.
