Nursing and Patient Care Services Manager - Emergency Department

About the role

The Manager of Nursing and Patient Care Services provides operational leadership for a clinical unit or service area, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. They supervise frontline staff, manage staffing, scheduling, and daily operations, and implement organizational policies and strategic initiatives at the unit level. The role involves monitoring performance metrics related to quality, safety, patient experience, and workforce engagement, as well as managing budgets and resource utilization within financial targets. They ensure regulatory compliance, coach staff for professional development, and address operational issues, collaborating with leadership to promote a culture of safety, engagement, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care.
• Supervise staff, oversee staffing and patient care operations.
• Implement policies, monitor performance metrics, and manage budgets.
• Ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Coach staff for growth and retention.
• Identify operational issues and escalate as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar unit, preferably Emergency Department.
• RN licensure in the practice state, with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field, specialty/leadership certifications within 2 years, such as ACLS and PALS.

Physical & Additional Requirements

• Ability to lift 25 lbs, perform activities like kneeling, bending, and CPR as needed.
• Frequent sitting, standing, and keyboard use.
