About the role

The Nurse-Family Partnership Nurse Home Visitor provides comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the NFP Program. Nurse Home Visitors transform the lives of vulnerable babies, mothers, and families by implementing and maintaining fidelity to the model.

This is a community-based position; visits occur in the client’s home or another community location. The NFP Nurse carries a caseload of 25–30 clients and must travel within Sussex County to visit families, attend training and meetings, and adhere to company and program guidelines. Flexible hours, including nights and weekends, are required as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Share resources, perform health checks, and partner with first-time expectant parents during pregnancy and until the child is two years old.
  • Provide support to parents to uncover their innate strengths and skills as parents.
  • Complete extensive model training by the NFP National Service Office and participate in ongoing reflective supervision with site supervisors.

Requirements

  • Registered nurse with a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Nursing and a current, unrestricted RN license.
  • Experience in public health, community, and/or maternal-child health.
  • Experience with labor and delivery is desirable.
  • Home-visiting experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver’s license that meets the agency’s insurance carrier requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and community partners.
  • Ability to help others learn through a variety of methods.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Experience with computers, including Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is desirable.
