About the Role

The Registered Nurse in Maternal Child Health practices, teaches, and/or supervises nursing care in a community setting. This role is responsible for the care of assigned clients and families by acting as the main care coordinator, carrying out nursing skills contributing to treatment, rehabilitation, prevention of disease, and conservation of health. The nurse provides case management including data collection, assessment, treatment, teaching, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in accordance with standards of practice appropriate to the position.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate care effectively with clients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities, completing duties within allotted time.
  • Meet Agency productivity expectations.
  • Demonstrate respect, tolerance, and understanding for clients' dignity, autonomy, individuality, and independence.
  • Act as an advocate for clients and families in meeting their health care needs.
  • Establish trust and confidence in client relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries for a therapeutic relationship.
