About the role
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery. Works closely with vendors, suppliers, and transportation providers to negotiate rates and secure efficient logistics solutions. Ensures alignment between warehouse operations, transportation, and customer service teams to meet service commitments. Reviews shipping documents and purchase orders for accuracy, manages special shipping arrangements, and addresses customer inquiries or issues via phone and email. Tracks shipments, monitors transportation costs, and supports continuous improvement in logistics performance. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Plan and monitor inbound and outbound shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery
- Negotiate and secure competitive transportation rates with carriers and service providers
- Coordinate logistics activities with vendors, suppliers, and transport companies
- Ensure effective collaboration between warehouse, transportation, and customer service teams to meet operational commitments
- Schedule and oversee transportation providers to guarantee prompt and proper shipment movement
- Provide customers with accurate product and service information and resolve related issues in a timely manner
- Review purchase orders and shipping documents for accuracy and compliance
- Plan and track final product shipments based on customer requirements and delivery timelines
- Make special shipping arrangements as needed to meet unique customer or operational needs
- Communicate with customers via phone and email to verify account information and provide support
- Continuously monitor and evaluate freight costs and transportation rates for cost-saving opportunities
- Support team efforts and contribute to achieving department goals
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in logistics or transportation
- 1-3 years' experience in customer service preferred
- Experience in manufacturing or steel industry preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
