About the role
The Network/Telecom Technician installs, maintains, and troubleshoots data network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and cabling. This role ensures reliable connectivity by performing routine maintenance, testing equipment, and resolving connectivity issues. The Technician reports to the Electronic Security and Safety Department Manager and works primarily out of the assigned area.
Responsibilities
- Manage IT infrastructure, including hardware setup, customer network support, and endpoint support in the field
- Troubleshoot and support all IT-connected devices
- Remediate security vulnerabilities and coordinate appropriate actions with respective teams
- Collaborate with Operations across multiple groups to meet continuous improvement project goals
- Assist with deploying and troubleshooting networking solutions on-premise, cloud, or hybrid environments
- Provide technical support and on-site troubleshooting/repair for customers
- Respond to after-hours and weekend phone calls/texts in a timely manner
- Document all work performed daily to build complete customer work history
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of control and electrical system design
- Ability to support and troubleshoot IT network-connected devices
- Experience with routers, switches, wireless, firewalls, and security
- VMWare experience (recommended)
- Skills in TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, SMTP, web technologies, security tools, and firewall policies
- Proficiency with Windows desktop and server operating systems, and iOS systems
- Proficient with MS Office productivity software
- Ability to organize and plan work tasks efficiently to meet company goals
- Ability to balance multiple projects and work in high-output environments
- Critical thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in team environments
- Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with strong communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism while interacting with customers and simplifying technical explanations
- Flexible schedule, including possible emergency call-outs, extended hours, and some out-of-town/overnight work
- Willingness to participate in the company’s required background and drug screening process
- Valid driver’s license
