About the Role
The Network/Telecom Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting data network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and cabling. This role ensures reliable connectivity by performing routine maintenance, testing equipment, and resolving connectivity issues. The technician reports to the Electronic Security and Safety Department Manager and works primarily out of the assigned area.
Responsibilities
- Manage IT infrastructure, including hardware setup, customer network support, and endpoint support in the field.
- Troubleshoot and support all IT-connected devices.
- Remediate security vulnerabilities and perform/request appropriate actions from respective teams.
- Collaborate with Operations across multiple groups to meet current and future continuous improvement project goals.
- Assist with deploying/troubleshooting networking solutions on-premise, cloud, or hybrid environments.
- Provide technical support and on-site troubleshooting/repair for customers.
- Respond to phone calls and texts after hours and on weekends in a timely manner.
- Document all work performed daily to build complete customer work history.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of control and electrical system design.
- Ability to support and troubleshoot IT network-connected devices.
- Experience with routers/switches, wireless, firewalls, and security.
- VMWare experience is recommended.
- Skills in TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP, SMTP, web technologies, security tools, and firewall policies.
- Proficiency with Windows desktop and server operating systems, and IOS systems.
- Proficient with MS Office productivity software.
- Ability to efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.
- Ability to balance multiple projects.
- Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in team environments.
- Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with good communication skills and the ability to work in a high-output environment.
- Ability to maintain professionalism while interacting with customers, with an aptitude to answer technical questions in a simplified manner.
- Able to work a flexible schedule and adjust to changing business needs, including possible emergency call-out, extended hours, and some out-of-town and overnight work.
- Willing to participate in the company’s required background and drug screening process.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Working Conditions
- Walk, crawl, talk, see, read, hear, feel, sit, stand, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, grasp, and climb with both hands and legs for extended periods of time.
- Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Climb at heights of 300’+ for extended periods of time.
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
