Join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada, supporting the Hawthorne Army Depot as a Munitions Handler. This role involves warehousing and demilitarization duties, including stock movement, inventory, and the disassembly or destruction of munitions in controlled environments. A Secret US Government Clearance is required; US citizenship is mandatory to obtain this clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform warehousing duties such as moving ordnance items or components into/out of storage, conducting physical inventory, arranging storage, inspecting, loading, and packaging.
  • Execute manual, technical, and mechanically assisted processes for storage, receipt, shipment, and inspection of explosive ordnance items or components.
  • Conduct destruction and demilitarization of ammunition and explosive components.
  • Operate automated systems within the munitions demilitarization process.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal compliance documents and procedures.
  • Prioritize safety for self and others, complying with environmental regulations and permits.
  • Operate mobile equipment, including Material Handling Equipment (MHE), vehicles for transporting personnel, tools, equipment, and ammunition components.
  • Use computer-based programs such as the Logistics Modernization Program (LMP) and AIT scanning tools.
  • Accurately record and report munition and component accountability and discrepancies.
  • Remove dunnage and maintain a clean, secure, and safe work area, including keeping storage areas free of debris and vegetation.
  • Perform physical tasks including standing, walking, sitting, lifting (up to 25 lbs), pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs), stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and operating power/hand tools.
  • Obtain and maintain required training per Amentum’s Master Training Plan.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • 0-1 year of general work experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must complete the Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working Ammunition Operations (AMC Regulation 350-4) within 90 days of hire.
  • Willing and able to be trained to operate forklifts, fork trucks, or material handling lifting devices.
  • Willing and able to work overtime, varying hours, and/or rotating shifts.
  • Computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly during normal and crisis situations.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment, including safety hat, shoes, gloves, and glasses.
  • Able to work in an environmental and safety-compliant environment.
  • Maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform essential functions, including HWAD drills and emergency requirements.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating lifting devices, hoists, and overhead cranes.
  • Experience working in a hazardous materials environment.
  • Unexploded ordnance experience.
  • Experience in a production or work management atmosphere.

Safety

This position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires compliance with the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix, as well as the HWAD A&D Program. Candidates and incumbents must complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam, respiratory screening, and meet suitability and reliability requirements per 29 CFR and Army Regulations (AR 190-11, AR 190-13) and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.

Pay

$23.43 - $28.62 per hour. The compensation range is a good-faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
