Mine Superintendent

Responsibilities

• Work with management and relevant departments to establish short- and long-term mine plans, strategies, and tactics
• Work through front-line leaders to communicate and implement goals
• Monitor daily success metrics and address with front-line leaders
• Ensure performance management and employee development needs are addressed
• Collaborate daily with the site team to address production/mill-impacting issues
• Complete yearly budgeting process: track and adjust as needed
• Oversee state and federal mine inspections, respond to findings
• Maintain EHS compliance through expectation-setting, accountability, and performance auditing
• Participate in continuous EHS improvement
• Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

• Required: High School diploma or equivalent
• PREFERRED: Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related field
• Experience: Minimum 10 years mine operations management and capital project management
• MSHA certification preferred
• Valid driver’s license required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with: Adaptive (Budgeting), DataServ (AP), UKG (HR), AutoCAD, LIMS, ETMS, Tableau, PeopleSoft
• Deep knowledge of MSHA mine safety regulations
• Proven ability to lead mining best practices
• Strong communication skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Tools/Technology Use: Regular computer/tablet/phone/radio use; occasional hand tools and hauling equipment
• Environment: Frequently underground or outdoors; occasionally near moving parts, vibration, wet/humid conditions; rarely in confined spaces or working at height
• Physical: Regular sitting, talking, hearing; frequent standing, walking, driving, wrist/hand/finger motion; occasionally prolonged sitting, reaching, pushing, climbing, stooping, crawling; vision requirements: near/far clarity, depth perception, color; lifting: Occasionally up to 50 lbs; rarely over 51+ lbs
