About the role

A STS Tax Senior Manager, State and Local Taxation advises clients on tax implications, recommends courses of action, and identifies compliance methods. This role involves marketing, business development, and tax compliance, consulting, and controversy representation.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes complex tax situations, developing reports based on research findings.
  • Reviews and responds to state tax notices, provides exam support, and drafts tax memorandums.
  • Collaborates with Core Tax Partners, Directors, and Senior Managers on tax consulting and planning.
  • Represents clients in tax authority disputes, utilizes tax software, and negotiates settlements.
  • Develops and implements tax strategies, manages engagements, and provides technical client service.
  • Supervises STS SALT Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, ensuring project deadlines and quality of work.
  • Manages client expectations and develops consultative selling strategies.
  • Contributes to strategy development and researches potential tax strategies.

Requirements

Eight+ years of prior experience in state and local/multistate taxation, supervising tax professionals, and preparing/reviewing tax provisions. CPA certification or relevant certification preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, tax research tools, and familiarity with tax standards and applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Masters degree in Accounting/Taxation or JD preferred.
  • Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and teams.
  • Executive presence and ability to interact with all levels of professionals.

Pay

National Range: $99,750 - $262,500
Maryland Range: $99,750 - $262,500
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $99,750 - $262,500
Washington DC Range: $99,750 - $262,500

Schedule

Full-time position with flexible work arrangements available.
