About the role
A STS Tax Senior Manager, State and Local Taxation advises clients on tax implications, recommends courses of action, and identifies compliance methods. This role involves marketing, business development, and tax compliance, consulting, and controversy representation.
Responsibilities
- Researches complex situations, analyzes research findings, and develops relationships with state tax departments.
- Reviews and responds to state tax notices, provides exam support, and drafts tax memorandums.
- Provides technical client service, negotiates settlements, and prepares tax accrual workpapers.
- Develops and implements tax strategies, manages engagements, and acts as a career advisor.
- Supervises STS SALT Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates, evaluates performance, and delivers performance feedback.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- Eight or more years of prior experience in state and local/multistate taxation.
- Prior experience supervising tax professionals.
- Experience with corporate taxation, consolidations, and partnerships.
- CPA certification or relevant certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with tax applications and research tools.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting/Taxation or Juris Doctor preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Solid organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
- Ability to manage a team of tax professionals.
- Executive presence and ability to act as a primary contact on assigned engagements.
- Advanced knowledge of tax standards and sources of relevant information.
- Capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
- Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Benefits
