About the Role
A Medical Scheduler coordinates patient appointments, tests, and procedures within a healthcare setting, ensuring smooth and efficient scheduling while maintaining compliance with healthcare standards.
Responsibilities
- Schedule follow-up visits, obtain pre-certifications, and arrange medical tests such as interventional cardiology procedures.
- Communicate procedure instructions clearly to patients and confirm appointments via phone.
- Provide follow-up letters to patients as needed.
- Utilize systems like Allscripts, Centricity Business, and hospital databases to retrieve and update patient information.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Exhibit friendly, helpful behavior in all patient interactions.
- Adhere to clinic policies and procedures.
- Perform assigned duties effectively and ensure patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Two years of scheduling experience in a multi-specialty clinic preferred.
- Demonstrated competency in scheduling and patient communication.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
