Medical Receptionist-Ambulatory Surgery Center
About the role
The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and families in our state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center. In this role, you will help create a smooth, organized, and welcoming experience from arrival through discharge by supporting patient check-in, scheduling, insurance verification, payment collection, communication, and front desk operations.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly
- Manage patient check-in, registration, and intake forms with accuracy and efficiency
- Schedule and confirm surgical and office appointments
- Collapse communication between patients, clinical staff, and physician offices
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Collect co-pays and patient balances and process transactions accurately
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Monitor message pools and respond to phone and electronic inquiries promptly and professionally
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure seamless coordination of patient care
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and reception area at all times
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Prior experience in a medical front desk or administrative role is required
- Orthopaedic or Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of insurance verification, co-pay collection, and patient scheduling systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; professional, patient-centered demeanor with all contacts
- Proficiency with medical office software and standard office applications (i.e. Microsoft Office products-Word, Excel)

OrthoNJ, LLC is required by New Jersey law to disclose the compensation range for this position. The hiring range for this role is $19-24/hour. Compensation is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience. Eligible full-time employees are offered a comprehensive benefits package, which may include paid time off, medical, dental, vision, and a retirement plan.
