About the role
The South Dakota Human Services Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee a small lab team within their Laboratory Department. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a day shift and occasional weekend work.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review policies, procedures, and training materials to ensure compliance with state requirements.
- Participate with the Administrative Leadership Team and other teams as assigned.
- Manage the operating budget and maintain fiscal control of the Laboratory Department.
- Hire, supervise, and evaluate staff for the Laboratory Department.
- Coordinate with hospital medical staff to ensure quality service delivery to patients/residents.
- Take blood samples from clients in all treatment areas.
- Perform general maintenance on laboratory analyzers and general laboratory equipment.
- Run quality control samples on test systems per policy and ensure proper functioning of analyzers.
- Process and package patient samples for sending out to reference laboratories.
- Perform CLIA Waived and CLIA Moderately complex laboratory testing in areas of hematology, chemistry, and urinalysis.
- Complete and report on Laboratory Quality Assurance.
- Review and write policies.
- Complete 6-week schedule staffing, including on-call hours.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field is preferred.
- Must be qualified to perform moderate complexity testing under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.
- Must be or eligible to be a registered Medical Technologist.
