About the role

Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking vital signs, and reporting patient history.
- Cleans exam rooms and obtains lab specimens.
- Aids physicians and other staff members as needed, selecting appropriate equipment and verifying specimen orders.
- Prepares exam rooms for patient encounters and assists Licensed Independent Practitioners (LIPs) as requested.
- Maintains appropriate levels of supplies and relevant forms for testing and documents medical information in electronic medical records.
- Performs clerical duties such as patient registration, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining medical records.
- Performs electrocardiograms and other relevant tests, following established policies and procedures and universal precautions.
- Verifies patient information through interviews and recordings, documenting medical information, and keeping rooms stocked and organized.
- Coordinates with front office personnel and ancillary staff in a professional and positive manner, adhering to policies and procedures to support patient service.
- Assists in front office functions as assigned, including checkout/in duties, claim creation, and discharge paperwork.
- Performs injections and other duties as directed by a provider and manager, ensuring compliance with Capital Health policies.
- Performs other selected clinical and clerical duties as directed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the National Healthcare Association (NHA), or its successor, The Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association (CAHEA), or its successor; Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or its successor; or any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Current certification from the Certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), the National Certification Medical Association (NCMA), or registration from the American Medical Technologists (AMT), or any other recognized certifying body approved by the board.
- AHA BLS certification.
